Supporting young grown-ups from families with alcohol problems

Prevention and harm-reduction for young people from families with alcohol problems
Very few families with alcohol problems seek help, so very few children are helped. However, when the young people are beginning to move out of the families, they are looking for support to make a better life for themselves. Making help available at this transition prevents new families with alcohol problems, and it reduces the harm the parents’ drinking has caused. This seminar presents the key findings of a successful Danish youth counselling program. It addresses the issues of how to attract young people to the programme, and how to best help them.
